Many digestion applications, e.g. Kjeldahl, produce fumes that are unpleasant and corrosive. As an option the 2006 Digestor can be equipped with a special Exhaust for individual processing of “express” samples. For extra safety a fume cupboard should be used. The Manifolds can be connected to either a cold-water tap or a Scrubber Unit.  
Unlike water aspirators, when a Scrubber is used, variations in the water supply have no influence on the fume removal. The Scrubber neutralizes fumes in an alkali solution, so no discharge is obtained into the sewage system. Available models include a space-saving benchtop scrubber, 2001. For laboratories with high sample loads there is a larger capacity floor model, 1013. The Scrubber 1013 can operate multiple digestors simultaneously. This model only requires replacement of the neutralizing solution every 300 samples.
 

Operation of the Scrubber 1013 can be automated on/off by connection of a Scrubber Interface in combination with the 2000 Controller. The Scrubber 2001 can be fully automated including switching from high to low aspiration settings using the Controller 2000.  
If the Exhaust Manifold is connected to the standard water aspirator, the Flow Regulator can be used for easy switching between maximum and low suction to save water. When the Regulator is used in combination with the Controller, it allows for full automation.  
Warning: Applications using perchloric or nitric acid often require special precautions. The fume removal system should be rinsed regularly with water. Local safety regulations must also be followed.
