Fibertec Systems M6 and M12 are dedicated for fibre determinations according to Weende, van Soest, etc. Single or sequential extractions including boiling, using externally preheated reagents, rinsing and filtration are performed under reproducible and controlled conditions. 
The Fibertec M6 is a manual instrument analyzing 6 samples at once. Reagents are heated on a hot plate to 80°C before they are introduced to the samples. The sample is weighed into a glass crucible and remains there for the entire analysis. This is a strong selling point because it eliminates transfer errors. For this reason, Fibertec units give unusually high reproducibility. The digestions are performed with a side-heating element that reduces charring of the sample. Samples are filtered with a 4-position filtration system that allows for back pressure to flocculate the sample if clogging occurs.

The basic modules of a Fibertec System M6 are:

• 1020 Hot Extractor, for hot hydrolysis and extraction with built-in systems for heating and filtration
• 1021 Cold Extractor, for defatting samples, extraction at ambient temperature e.g. lignin determination, and for solvent dehydration of fibre residues.

The Fibertec M12 is a manual instrument analyzing 12 samples at once having the same features as the M6.

Both units are adapted to the same crucible system that permits the sample, whenever required, to be dried and weighed between extractions. In the system, the samples are handled in specially designed filter crucibles, which are used both as an integral part of an extraction assembly during extraction, rinsing and filtering, and as a sample vessel during the weighing, drying and ashing steps.
