Digestion
Blocks are designed to be used when wet acid ashing or digestion is
required as a sample preparation technique. Most common is the sulfuric
acid digestion required for determination of Kjeldahl nitrogen/protein or
of total phosphorus. Digestion Blocks can also be used where acid
digestion is required prior to trace metal analysis.
All systems are equipped with a built-in electronic temperature control,
100-440ºC, digital display and are compatible with Series 2000
Controller. All systems include tube stand, heat shields and washing
plate.
Systems should be combined with appropriate digestion tubes and Exhaust
Manifold to make complete system.
| Digestion
Tubes |
All
6-Place and 20-Place digestion blocks use 250 ml digestion tubes.
All 12-place and 40-place blocks use 100 ml tubes. For most Kjeldahl
applications the 250 ml tubes are used.
|
| Exhaust
Manifold |
Most
digestion applications, such as Kjeldahl, produce unpleasant and
corrosive fumes. Exhaust Manifolds transfer these fumes to either a
cold water drain or a scrubber unit. Exhaust Manifolds come complete
with a water faucet aspirator but may be connected to a flow
regulator or a scrubber.
|
| Scrubber |
The
Scrubber pulls the acid fumes from the Exhaust Manifolds and
neutralizes them in a self-contained system for minimal acid
discharge into the sewage system. The collected fumes are
neutralized by a sodium hydroxide solution that may be easily
disposed.
|
| Controller |
All
20 Place and 40 Place digestion blocks come with a Controller,
which is optional on all other blocks. The controller allows for
nine programmable temperature and time combinations in sequence.
Powered from the Digestor, fully unattended operation is possible if
a Controller is used with an exhaust, flow regulator or scrubber,
and a lift system.
|
| Lift
System |
The
Lift System eliminates heavy and risky manual handling of hot
chemicals by moving the rack of tubes with the exhaust into and out
of the heated digestion block. It also saves bench space as the
Exhaust Manifold can be mounted on it. |
